Samsung Galaxy launch behind "Wake Up" protest outside Apple's Sydney store ? [Update]

Wake Up Apple Store Sydney [Update: It seems I might of jumped the gun on this one, according to SlashGear, Samsung denies being involved:

”Samsung Electronics Australia has nothing to do with the ‘Wake-Up Campaign’.”

and now Rim have admitted to the stunt saying:

"We can confirm that the Australian 'Wake Up' campaign, which involves a series of experiential activities taking place across Sydney and Melbourne, was created by RIM Australia" ]

In my opinion Samsung has taken a step to far in the ramp up for the launch of their new Galaxy S III, hiring marketing firm Tongue to organise this mock protest outside of Sydney's Apple store.A black bus branded with the words "Wake Up" pulled up outside of the store, followed by a group of protesters (see actors) pouring out holding "Wake Up" signs chanting.I'm all for guerrilla marketing but this just feels cheap. Rocking up to your competitor and causing a disruption to their trading is just a desperate measure to get some attention. Now before you scream I'm just a fanboy, I liked Samsung's Galaxy Note commercials, they were a subtle jab injected with some humour. The strategy has always baffled me though. Target your competitors customers and entice them to use your product by making fun of them for being sheep and telling them they need to "Wake Up"..... Thanks Samsung I did and won't be back! This is just part of the campaign with a wesbite, billboards and even the bottom of Bondi Ice Berg's Pool all branded with "Wake Up".Check out the video below and let me know your thoughts, does this "Demonstration" make you feel warm and fuzzy for Samsung ?http://youtu.be/Ldq2tNLRDwA(Via:Mumbrella)
