Apple held it’s World Wide Developers Conference for 2019 this morning at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
As usual they kicked things off with a cute video titled “Goodnight Developers”.
Tim Cook then took to the stage to launch the Keynote.
Here’s everything they announced including a new trailer for “All Mankind” coming to Apple TV +
Apple TV+
New home screen - More Dynamic
Multi user support - Apple TV will now support multiple accounts
Apple Music - Lyrics will play in sync with Apple Music
Controller Support - Apple TV will now support Xbox and Playstation controllers!
Screensavers - New screensavers including under the ocean
Watch OS
Faces - New faces including Gradient, Digital, Californian Dial, Wind and Rain
Taptic Chimes - on the hour
New Apps - Audio Books, Voice Memo and Calculator including tip calculations
Independent Apps - Apps no longer need iPhone to function
App Store - Apple Watch is now getting it’s own App Store - purchase and install Apps right on the Apple Watch!
Activity Trends - Activity App will now show you your activity trends over longer periods
Hearing Health - Apple Watch can now monitor your surroundings to make sure they aren’t too loud!
Cycle Tracking - No not bikes - this one’s for the women out there!
iOS 13
Performance - Big focus on making the the iPhone faster and App downloads smaller
Dark Mode - Apple is finally bringing dark mode to iOS!
Keyboard - Now let’s you swipe across keys as well as type
Reminders - Complete redesign with a tonne more functionality including smart lists
Maps - Rebuilt from the ground up with stunning detail and more functionality including favourites and Apple’s version of street view!
Sign in with Apple - Finally a way to sign in to new accounts without having to share all your information
Camera & Photos - Improvement to portrait lighting, photo editing, will include more controls and now available across videos! Photos will clean up the clutter getting rid of screen shots and things like photos of receipts!
Live Radio - Siri will now play your local radio station!
Memoji - a heap more Memoji options including the ability to share your Memoji automatically when you text. Memoji stickers will be available across the system!
iPad OS
iPad OS - iPad now has it’s own OS!
Slide Over - You can now toggle through all your recent slide over windows
Split View - Will now support multiple windows for the same apps
App Expose - The same experience from the Mac has arrived on your iPad
Files - Column view now available, folder sharing with third parties and finally support for external drives!
Safari - Desktop class browsing, desktop websites will now be the default and work with touch input, and it will include download manager
Text Editing - New gestures to make editing a breeze!
Mac OS - Catalina
iTunes - Finally being split into 3 Apps - Apple Music, Podcasts and Apple TV
Sidecar - You can now use your iPad as a second display
Find My - Combines Find my iPhone and Find my Friends.
Apps - New features in Photos, Safari, Notes and Reminders
Accessibility - Voice Control will let you control your Mac just with your voice
